To be honest, I didn't fully understand the methods used in this paper. The most important lesson I learned from this paper is about experiment design.
Although we always claim that we have continuous data, is continuous measurements always helpful for all research topics? I think the answer should be NO. For model simulation, we need a lot parameters. Meanwhile, if we want to measure a lot of parameters during the whole growing season, it could be really difficult to keep high data quality. I think this kind of sacrifice is not worthy.
Experiment design is really important.
