Small footprint lidar provides accurate biomass estimates. Hyperspectral data record canopy spectral information that is potentially related to forest biomass. In this paper, the author modeled biomass in an African forest using small footprint lidar metrics and airborne hyperspectral bands. The main objectives of this study includes two parts: (i) to test for the first time small footprint lidar-based AGB retrieval in a West African tropical moist forest, (ii) to examine whether the use of very high spatial resolution hyperspectral data in addition to lidar can improve the biomass estimates.
